Economics Workshop

In August 2014, the City of Ballarat made a commitment to introduce a participatory design process for the Civic Hall Site. As recently published in the June edition of myBallarat, this centrally located site holds immense value and great potential in both socio-cultural and economic terms. It has excellent CBD proximity and transport links.

Building upon the wealth of prior information, plans and data, an ongoing process of participatory design has enabled Here Studio to gather current hopes and aspirations for the site. From more than 300 concepts, there are now 10 multifaceted concept drawings, now on display at the Open Door Studio and online at www.civichallsite.org

As we begin Stage 2 of this process, it is now time to examine current information and make serious decisions, with a view to transforming the whole site, for the tangible benefit of present and future generations.

The focus of the workshop will be on providing the background to the project so far, and discussing the economics of the Civic Hall Site with a view to developing a Cost Benefit Analysis and a pilot Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA).
