On Thursday, 15th October from 5.30pm - 7.30pm, we are hosting a public seminar on 'green public space' at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E.) Join us in considering the multi-purpose needs and possibilities for green public space at Civic Hall Site.
We have recently confirmed, on television and in the press, the likely givens of redeveloped green public space across the Mair Street frontage and the Midland Highway side on the West of the main Hall, but there are still many other aspects to consider. There's the question of the style in which these public spaces should be sculptured, and also questions about the desired range of courtyards, atriums, plaza areas and public gardens and spaces across the larger site, and maybe even on top of some structures as elevated rooftop lawns.
Essentially this seminar is intended to prompt us to think analytically about our urban future, from an environmental, botanical and healthy outdoor lifestyle perspective. There is much to consider.
Our MC and Chair will be Matt Briody of The Art of Events.
The event will be launched by Cr Belinda Coates, City of Ballarat.
An Introductory Presentation will be given by Ammon Beyerle, Here Studio.
Our guest speakers include:
- Dave Kendall, The Australian Research Centre for Urban Ecology (ARCUE), University of Melbourne.
- Penny Greenslade, Federation University.
- Gavin Cerini, BREAZE Renewable Energy.
- Angela Enbom, Tread Lightly Permaculture.
Their presentations will be followed by an open panel discussion, in which we encourage audience interaction and participation. All points raised at this seminar will be taken on board by our architectural team at this pivotal time, prior to the finalisation of the next five (5) urban design concepts.
