Libraries of the future: What will they look like?

August is about Learning & Innovation at the Civic Hall Site.

Learning & Innovation is one of the key themes being revealed through the community consultation of the first 10 concepts. And so we are hosting a 'Libraries of the Future!' seminar to help tease out ideas for realising the full potential for the Ballarat Library before it goes into design development.

This is expected to be a thought provoking event that engages with the many active communities already at the Ballarat Library. Themes for discussion include: What is a Library? Will Libraries become obsolete or more important in the future? How can learning and innovation be incorporated into a Library? Are Libraries already our ‘new’ community hub? What architecture should Libraries provide our society? Do we even need a Library? What could our dream Ballarat Library look like?

We have asked a some expert presenters to come and talk all things Learning & Innovation on Thursday, 27th August 2015:

Ammon Beyerle & Michelle James, Co-Directors of Here Studio, Architecture and Participatory Design

Jenny Fink, Operations Manager, City of Ballarat Libraries and Central Highlands Libraries

Jo Dane, Principal, Education Consultant, Woods Baggot, Global Design

Do join us in considering what the libraries of the future may look like. Come and envisage the possibilities and potential of the Ballarat Library and the Civic Hall Site. We anticipate some lively and engaging discussion. The panel will be chaired by Ailsa B du Bois, The Editorial Suite.
